Frame’d: The Quest for the Perfect Digital Photo frame

Digital photo frames are relegated to the last cobwebby corner of the glorious revolution that is digital photography. They have been clumsy, low-resolution, poor color quality upsell-bait for many companies that make great digital photo products. And unlike the rest of the tech world, their momentum has not been strong.

Many people say digital photography came of age sometime around 2002 (around the time when consumer-level cameras hit 3 megapixels–the resolution at which 4×6 prints are of good quality). I’m hoping digital photo frames come of age in 2008. Everyone wants an easy, attractive way to view their digital pictures without a computer.

In an ongoing lp blog piece, I’ll highlight some of the latest dp frame technology, showcase the shortcomings, and throw a review in there for good luck. Check back tomorrow for our first installment.
